David Américo Ortiz Arias is a former Dominican-American professional baseball designated hitter and first baseman who played 20 years in MLB. Drafted into the majors by the Minnesota Twins, David went on to become an MLB legend with the Boston Red Sox.

Born on November 18, 1975, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, David attended Estudia Espaillat High School in the Dominican Republic, where he was a standout athlete in both baseball and basketball.

Regarded as one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time, David played a pivotal role in ending the 86-year World Series championship drought for the Boston Red Sox in 2004. He won the championship with them again in 2007 and 2013 and was named the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2013. He is also a ten-time All-Star and a seven-time Silver Slugger winner. He was awarded the ALCS MVP in 2004 and has set major league records for career home runs (485), RBIs (1,569), and hits (2,192) as a DH.

David was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2022.
